HTC has now shifted its focus on the budget smartphone segment to strengthen its hold in markets like that of India. After so many Octa-Core smartphones launched in the last couple of months, HTC has now launched the Desire 616 with a price tag of Rs 16,990 which gives open competition to Micromax which has priced its Octa-Core smartphones at or above Rs 20,000.
The HTC Desire 616 has a 1.4 GHz Octa Core Mediatek processor with 1 GB RAM. The display has a 294ppi pixel density which is 5 inches in size. Surprisingly the phone a very low internal memory that sums up to 4GB though it is expandable up to 32 GB. The primary camera on the phone is an 8 MP shooter capable of shooting 1080p HD videos. The front camera is a 2MP which is capable of recording a 720p. The phone is powered by a 2000 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jellybean) which is again a disappointment.
The target consumers for this phone is obviously people fond of more cores in their phone processor and of course the brand name of HTC if that's what they crave for.
