Jolla ( pronounced as "yolla") offers a smartphone which is an alternative to iOS and Android based phones, from a team of ex-Nokia employees. Jolla went public on 6 July 2012, announcing its intention to develop new smartphones which utilized a gesture-oriented user interface. They named their operating system "Sailfish", which is a result of Mer and includes a gesture-based user interface developed.

VODAFONE INDIA LIMITED NOW 100% OWNED BY VODAFONE
Vodafone India Limited (VIL), the ever-so-growing telecommunication company has been bought 100% by Vodafone. VIL’s 89.03% of stake, earlier owned by Analjit Singh & Neelu Analjit Singh of Primal Enterprises, was bought by British Telecom Vodafone in March 2014 followed by remaining 10.97% on Friday. The deal summed up in INR 10,142 crores (£ 1.0 billion).

FACEBOOK ACQUIRES OCULUS VR FOR $2 BILLION
Mark Zuckerberg is following up his aquisition of Whatsapp with another big acquisition : virtual reality company Oculus VR for $2 billion in stock and cash. Microsoft to offer Windows Phone OS for free to Indian smartphone makers.
According to a Times of India report, Microsoft has gone one step further to push its OS, waiving licence fee and offering it for free to at least two Indian smartphone companies. Considering the fact that the OS is the main source of revenue for Microsoft and that it did not let Nokia use it for free, it was quite a surprising move from the company.
