Nokia Unveils Z-Launcher App for Android smartphones

After pushing in Nokia X Software Platform 1.0 based on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on its Nokia X, X+ and XL, the company has now come up with its new Z launcher app for Android based smartphones. This move from Nokia, which was once the leading player in mobile phone manufacturing gives clear indication about its desperation to stay in the game even when the market has been captured by Google and other giant players.
However there's not much to the Z launcher, the main home screen displays the 6 apps and five static shortcuts appear at the bottom of the screen and is also able to include your contacts and frequently visited websites into the mix.

The Z launcher gives you and interface that your most used apps take center stage and everything else is a few swipes away. Apart from all that, another feature of the Z Launcher is it's gesture control which lets you trace a letter on the homescreen and it'll show you apps, web links and contacts beginning with that letter. Trace another letter and it'll narrow down the selection further.
The Z launcher is in its currently in its alpha phase and is not available to everyone at the moment.
