After gaining much popularity in India with its high end budget smartphone, the Mi3 from Xiaomi, the company is all set to launch its next flagship smartphone Mi4, in China scheduled for tomorrow, i.e 22nd July. Also, the Mi3 will be up for grabs from tomorrow in India. Meanwhile, the specifications of Mi4 which is supposed to be a total game changer for the high end smartphone market were leaked online.
The Mi4 will come with a 5.5 inch quad-HD display at 2560 x 1440 resolution. It will be powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC clocked at 2.25GHz. The phone will come with 32GB inbuilt storage, no expandable storage support, 3GB of RAM and 3200mAH non-removable battery. It will boast a 16 MP rear camera with optical image stabilization and a 5 MP front-facing camera. The Phone will be running MiUI V5 on top of android 4.4 Kitkat. MiUI is a custom UI built by Xiaomi which offers some nifty tricks and has some productivity tools. The biggest plus point in the UI is its customizability with an ever growing theme base.
Priced at $499, Xiaomi will be making ripples again, offering excellent hardware for a lot less compared to flagship Android phones from Samsung, LG, Sony and HTC. Xiaomi has been generating quite a lot of buzz with its market strategy of offering good products at low prices in China. The Mi3 has gained huge popularity before even hitting the market. Launching Mi4 in India can actually turn into a disaster for Sony, HTC and Samsung which have their high end phones priced above 40k mark. The Mi 4, if launched in India could be launche at the price band of 25k-30k INR.
